Caprock Campers: Life’s better outside!

It’s no secret that we consider Caprock Canyons State Park our home away from home. Every chance we get we migrate to the park to indulge in bison, prairie dogs, coyotes and more. We have been in the park now for the past several weeks to capture film for the Red Stegall show and to film Caprock Campers, a camp hosted by the park to reward kids in the local community for their achievements in the Accelerated Reading program. The two day camp offers kids the opportunity to learn about the prairie and its keystone species, to make cast of animal tracks, watch the bat emergence at Clarity Tunnel as well as hiking, canoeing, fishing and swimming. Caprock Campers is made possible by community donations.

Today the morning was spent fishing from the dock where many of the campers were extremely successful in catching bass and sunfish! We would like to thank the staff for letting us be a part of this experience and for the opportunity to film the campers on their adventures.  Video to come!
