Well, like many animals in a hot and dry environment, I sort of estivated for the last number of weeks. I didn’t estivate to avoid the hot and dry, rather, I spent a lot of time outdoors and have lots of stories to share. I must keep this brief but more will follow. Metaphorically, I am a spadefoot just breaking through a hard soil crust and will need some time to get back to my old posting schedule. Above are a few pictures I captured in the last couple of days of a coyote, sharp-shinned hawk, double-crested cormorant, and Mississippi kites. These were all taken with my new 500mm lens with 1.4x teleconverter. In the case of the kites, it was hand-held, the coyote was out a door, the cormorant on a tripod, and the sharp-shinned on a monopod. I still have a lot to figure out! But what a fantastic piece of equipment and I am very thankful to have the newest from Canon!
