Poison glands and red spots

It rained for most of the last 24 hours in Canyon so we headed out to the Canyon tonight to look for amphibians.  We were a bit dissapointed by the lack of diversity, finding only the red-spotted toads.  Don’t get me wrong, these are amazing and beautiful animals as I hope these pictures will help convey.  I mentioned in a previous post that they are by far the most common species of amphibian I have encountered in Palo Duto Canyon.  Again it is late and I’m falling asleep as I type this.  I hope you enjoy these photographs and thanks to Melissa for toad wrangling .
